Georgian MPs accuse U.S. of plotting revolution in Georgia

Ex-representatives of the ruling Georgian Dream party Sozar Subari, Mikhail Kavelashvili, Guram Macharashvili and Dmitri Khundadze accused the U.S. embassy in Tbilisi of whipping up revolutionary sentiments in the country as the Georgian leadership refuses to open a second front against Russia.

"What could be the reason for the hysterical attempt of the U.S. embassy to create unrest in the country and give artificial impetus to revolutionary processes? There can be only one reason for this - Georgia has not fulfilled the mission of opening a second front, which it was unfairly endowed with," the MPs said in a joint letter published on the website of the Parliament.

The MPs believe that Washington is lobbying Mikheil Saakashvili's United National Movement party and want to see him lead the country. "The embassy is well aware that the current government will never sign up for the destruction of the country, and the National Movement is ready to fulfill any task. There is no other explanation for the hysterical desire of the embassy to replace the Georgian Dream with the National Movement in power," the letter emphasizes.
