Georgian Prosecutor’s Office has initiated an investigation on charges of embezzlement and abuse of power, according to the office's website.
Investigation was based on the statements disseminated by the media outlets, in particular, Giorgi Bajelidze's statement claimed that in course of making state procurements by Georgia's Ministry of Corrections, in three cases of Baker LLC, NIL LLC and Woman and Business LLC, agreements were signed in violation of the rules and there were facts of a corrupt agreements involving certain high officials of the ministry.
In response, the minister of Correction Kaha Kakhiashvili made a statement, according to which, information spread by Bajelidze was not true, noting that the ministry does not have any agreements signed with NIL LLC and that the agreements signed with other two companies have been executed absolutely legally. Kakhishvili requested law enforcement authorities to launch investigation into the matter, News Georgia reported.
