Georgian opposition postpones rallies following tragedy in Bagdati

Georgian opposition parties have postponed today’s demonstrations on election issues as six individuals, four minors and two women, died in a fire in Bagdati municipality yesterday.

Leader of the European Georgia opposition party Gigi Ugulava urged the ruling Georgian Dream party to also postpone the opening of the spring session in parliament today.

Ugulava said that demonstrations demanding the early transition to a proportional electoral system from this year will renew starting tomorrow at parliament and governmental buildings, Agenda.ge reported.

The opposition is demanding the 2020 elections to be held per the voting.
