Some of the largest opposition parties in Georgia have formally signed a charter proposed by Georgian President Salome Zurabichvili to unite them ahead of the October parliamentary elections.
The office said the signing at the Orbeliani Palace residence of the President involved 17 parties - including the United National Movement, Strategy Aghmashenebeli, Lelo for Georgia, Girchi - More Freedom and other parties - and five independent MPs, including Tamar Kordzaia and Khatia Dekanoidze.
The Georgian Charter is an action plan President Zourabichvili introduced on May 26 offering political parties to reconcile around the document. The large number of the opposition parties hesitated to sign, including Girchi, For Georgia and Labour Party.
