Georgian patriarch considers flood to be punishment for sins

The flood that caused heavy damage to the zoo in Tbilisi and killed more than half of its animals was a punishment for the sins of the Communists, who created the zoo for the money received from the smelting of bells and crosses. Such an opinion was expressed by the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II  at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in a Sunday sermon.

"In Georgia there is a terrible tragedy. As a result of mudslides and floo,ds people have been killed, the zoo is destroyed. The animals ran away from there and became dangerous for the people,’’ Interfax quotes the Patriarch as saying.
