The German government has responded to the call to the German ambassador by the Foreign Ministry of Turkey because of a satirical film in which Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was mentioned.
"Freedom of expression and press freedom aren't negotiable,'' government spokesman Christiane Wirtz said.
European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker noted that "he wasn't satisfied with the fact that the German Ambassador was called only because of the satirical song." According to him, such a position of Ankara "separates Turkey from the EU instead of bringing it closer,'' RBC reports.
