Grigory Petushkov: Russian and Azerbaijani youth are interested in each other

The development of relations between Russian and Azerbaijani youth organizations is very dynamic and with a high degree of interest on both sides, the chairperson of the Association of Non-Governmental Organizations 'National Youth Council of Russia', Grigory Petushkov, told Vestnik Kavkaza in an exclusive interview.

He cited as an example the activities of the Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia (AYOR). "AYOR is a member organization of our national council. It is one of the most active and large-scale organizations, which conducts a large number of cultural events, and not only for Azerbaijani youth in Russia. All these events are distinguished by excellent quality and competent approach. It's a pleasure to visit them," Petushkov noted.

In addition, he said that today a large number of Azerbaijani youth are taught in Moscow and Russia in general, and added that in Azerbaijan, they are very sensitive about learning Russian language. "In particular, the majority of schools that used to teach Russian in Soviet times still work. And even at the everyday level one can hear that young people know Russian," the council's chairperson explained.

In addition, the chairperson of the Association of Non-Governmental Organizations 'National Youth Council of Russia' said that to date, the countries are implementing and are ready to implement a large number of joint projects related to education, work with youth, the environment and so on. "The interest isn't fake. It's great. And apart from bilateral relations we would like to note that we very often support each other at other international venues as well. We stand for common interests, traditions and symbols, which are often overlooked today, including historical memory. These are very important things," Grigory Petushkov summed up.
