Swiss lawyer Grégoire Mangeat met with the daughter of Uzbekistan's first president Islam Karimov, Gulnara Karimova, in the Uzbek women’s prison colony.
"Just arrived at Zangiota women’s prison colony Nr. 21. Trying to obtain acceptable conditions for our client’s meeting," Mangeat wrote on his Twitter page.
The General Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan said Karimova was transferred to a prison after breaking conditions of house arrest, AKIpress reported.
Karimova was sentenced to 10 years in prison initially, but her prison term was then shortened to 5 years and Gulnara was placed under house arrest. She was required not to use Internet and pay the caused damage.
