The Senate of the US state of Hawaii has refused to adopt two anti-Azerbaijani resolutions submitted for consideration, the press service of the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles reported.
They presumed recognition as "an independent state" of the regime supported by Armenia on the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, and contained a call for the federal government and the US Congress to "promote the strengthening of its independence."
This became known to the Consulate General, which immediately contacted the legislators of this state and sent an official letter to them, which informed about the fact of the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia and about the clear position of the UN and other influential international organizations on supporting the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
Thanks to this, the Hawaii Senate decided to reject these resolution, and adopted a statement in which it openly supported the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
In response, the Consul General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles, Nasimi Aghayev, expressed gratitude to the legislators of this state for their principled and fair position, 1news.az reports.
