Ravil Pancheyev, the head of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of St. Petersburg and the North-West Region of Russia, who led the St. Petersburg Cathedral Mosque, has been removed from his post and deprived of his position in the mufti clergy,'' the website of the Council of Muftis of Russia reports.
"On the basis of the loss of the moral and ethical right to hold ecclesiastical office in connection with the litigation and harassment of his mother, I decree the dismissal of Ravil Pancheyev as the chairman of the centralized religious organization the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of St. Petersburg and the North-West region of Russia, as well as depriving him of the spiritual title mufti," Tass cites the text of the decree signed by the supreme mufti of Russia Talgat Tajuddin.
