Health professionals invited by the Georgian Public Defender’s Office have observed “some positive dynamics” in the condition of ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili, pointing out his improved sleep among the trends.

The group of medical workers monitored Saakashvili’s health last week and noted the former official still suffered from muscle atrophy, neuropathy and cognitive deterioration, the Ombudsman’s Office said.

The group added Saakashvili was in need of a “close medical supervision”, after saying he “mostly lies down, feels weak and reluctantly answers the questions."

Saakashvili has been receiving treatment at the Tbilisi-based Vivamedi clinic since May 2022.
