The member of the Federation Council Committee representing Buryatia, Arnold Tulokhonov, met with veterans of the Baikal-Amur Mainline and representatives of the Azerbaijani national groups.
They discussed the initiative to open a monument for Azerbaijani National Leader Heydar Aliyev. This proposal is due to the fact that he was in charge of the construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline and visited various facilities of the Komsomol construction.
Heydar Aliyev was appointed as the first deputy prime minister of the USSR Council of Ministers in 1983. He visited the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) for the first time in July 1984.
