Europe needs its own military bloc free of American influence, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said.
"The solution would be a European NATO," Orban said, arguing that Europe should be able to defend itself.
Orban believes that this is because the EU is serving the interests of the U.S. at the expense of its own. “Decisions made by Brussels reflect American interests more often than European ones,” he said.
A year ago the EU approved the Strategic Compass, an EU Rapid Deployment Capacity, consisting of up to 5,000 troops - an ambitious plan of action for a stronger EU security and defence policy by 2030.
