Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi arrived at the nuclear power plant in Chernobyl. He announced this on his page on the social network Twitter.
He reminded that today marks exactly 36 years since the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the worst accident in the nuclear energy history. "I'm here to honor the memory of the nuclear accident's victims and all those who work tirelessly to restore and protect this place", Grossi said.
It was previously reported that the head of the IAEA Rafael Grossi and a group of staff for nuclear safety, security and safeguards would arrive in Chernobyl on April 26. The IAEA is expected to be there to deliver vital equipment and conduct radiological and other site assessments.
