The risks of exacerbation of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh are minimal now, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at a meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister, co-chair of the trilateral working group Alexei Overchuk, which was held in Baku today.

The corresponding message was published on the official website of the Azerbaijani president.

Greeting the Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Ilham Aliyev stressed the progress made by the trilateral group on unblocking transport links in the region, noting that very intensive consultations were underway. The head of state added that he was regularly informed of their progress. He expressed satisfaction with the fact that the earlier decision had turned out to be correct and that there are already concrete results, noting that five meetings had already taken place, both face-to-face and in a video conference format.

Thus, the President of Azerbaijan pointed out there is a topic for discussion, which is very important in terms of economic preferences, regional cooperation and strengthening security and peace in the South Caucasus. "Moreover, the post-conflict situation is positive as a whole, the risks of escalation are minimal. The more elements of cooperation there are, the stronger the security and stability will be," Ilham Aliyev stressed.

Alexei Overchuk expressed gratitude to Ilham Heydar for the opportunity to meet with you and discuss the work that is being carried out within the framework of the tripartite working group of deputy prime ministers on unblocking economic and transport links in the region. "Indeed, we have made some progress and the work is being done in close contact. We are always in touch with both the Azerbaijani and the Armenian sides. Indeed, we have established very good contacts here," the Russian politician said.
