Ilham Aliyev has taken the investigation of journalist Rasim Aliyev’s death under his personal supervision
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is deeply concerned about the beating of an employee of the Ann.az website, Rasim Aliyev, who died of his injuries, the President's Aide for Public and Political Affairs, Ali Hasanov, said.
“The President of Azerbaijan rates this incident as a threat to the freedom of free activity of the mass media, noting that ensuring the freedom of the mass media is an integral part of democratic principles, which is the high goal and one of the key priorities of the Azerbaijani government. Violation of this principle is unacceptable and absolutely contrary to the interests of the government and the essence of its policy,” Hasanov said.
According to him, as soon as Ilham Aliyev got news of the incident he instructed the Office of the Prosecutor General and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan to fully investigate the incident, find the criminals and bring them to justice.
The President also noted that all necessary measures will be continued under his personal supervision.
