It is very pleasant to participate in the international tournaments that are held at home, Azerbaijani gymnasts Imran Imranov and Madina Mustafayeva said, speaking with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza after their performance with the mixed pair program at the European Aerobics Championship in Baku.
“It is much easier and more pleasant to perform at home. It is a pleasure to compete in your home country, among your people who speak the same language as you, ”Imran Imranov emphasized.
Both gymnasts explained that the support of Azerbaijani fans plays a significant role. “In other countries, fans also support us, but not as well as at home. Here, the audience support is incredible, ”Imran Imranov explained.
Athletes noted that previously they were doing other types of gymnastics: Imran was an artistic gymnast, Madina was a rhythmic gymnast. “Each sport is difficult, and aerobics is not the easiest type of gymnastics,” Madina Mustafayeva concluded.
The European Aerobic Gymnastics Championships is being held in Baku for the first time. During three-day championships, senior and junior gymnasts will compete in the programs of 'Individual Women', 'Individual Men', 'Mixed Pairs', 'Trios', 'Groups', as well as 'Aerobic Dance', 'Aerobic Step' (only seniors). In the team competition, the winners will be defined for the five best performances. The championships will bring together gymnasts from 22 countries. In total, the gymnasts will compete for 15 medal sets.
