Ingushetia marks Republic Day

Ingushetia marks Republic Day

Today, residents of Ingushetia celebrate the Day of the Republic of Ingushetia. On June 4th, 1992, 24 years ago, the Russian Federation Supreme Council adopted the law "On the formation of Ingush Republic of the Russian Federation."

The head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Yevkurov expressed his congratulations.

"The presence of statehood has a great historical importance for any nation. In addition to obtaining extensive rights and powers, it requires to implement new ideas and approaches in public development, preservation of historical and cultural heritage and original national traditions," the official website of the republic quoted him as saying.

Yevkurov noted that 24 years of existence of the republic is insignificant historical period. "The path of our nation towards cherished goal - national statehood, was hard and long, but we achieved it. Civil society institutions and state authorities were formed. A lot has been done in terms of social and economic development, but many issues still await their solution. For that purpose, we developed a long-term strategy for development of the republic, it is planned to resolve most of the problems in the framework of the Federal Target Program 'Social and economic development of the Republic of Ingushetia for 2010-2016'," he recalled.

But the most important thing is, according to him, the wealth of Ingushetia - its hardworking multinational people, who will be able to cope with all challenges.

"Today, Ingushetia confidently follows the path of development and strengthening of its statehood, creation of economic potential, preservation of the national culture. Every citizen should understand his responsibility for the fate of the republic," Yevkurov stressed.

"On this holiday, I sincerely wish you good health and prosperity, peace and harmony, great success in your work for the sake of prosperity of Ingushetia!" he concluded.

Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District Sergey Melikov congratulated the head of the republic and its residents.

"Today, Ingushetia is one of the youngest regions in the Russian Federation. Despite this, the history of Ingushetia has different pages - both good and difficult. After going through all trials while keeping the faith in its good future, the republic obtained stability - both in social and political situation and in economic development," he noted.

Recall that yesterday, in an interview to Vestnik Kavkaza, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov stated that "today Ingushetia is a full-fledged subject of the Russian Federation. During the past four years it has been among top twenty regions in the country. It is the main result of the work by the authorities of the republic since its formation." According to Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, all stages of the 24-year development of Ingushetia were historic in their own way. "I would rather not single out one particular stage [of development] as they all played the key role. Both the presidential elections and the formation of the administration, the government, the parliament, and the adoption of various regional laws, and the strengthening of public institutions, and the construction of infrastructure facilities have been important for the republic,’’ he noted.

"The most important thing is that Ingushetia has established itself as a republic. It is a full-fledged region of Russia. During the last 4 years the republic has been among the top 20 regions of Russia. It is the most important result. We need to continue to build on our achievements,’’ the head of Inigushetia stressed.

The development of the republic will continue in many spheres. ‘‘We have plans to complete the federal target program of socio-economic development of the Republic of Ingushetia this year. Then, in 2017 we intend to launch a sub-program within the framework of the federal target development program of the North Caucasus Federal District, which is realized under the auspices of the Ministry of the North Caucasus,’’ he pointed out.

"And this year, we are planning to adopt a separate social development sub-program of the Republic of Ingushetia and improve it with the help of Russia and the Ministry of Caucasus in particular. Certainly, we will implement decrees and orders by the President and the Russian government. We will continue to work in the way we did before,’’ Yunus-Bek Yevkurov concluded.
