The International Day of Azerbaijani mugham and the music day of the Silk Road countries are celebrated today.
The decision to celebrate the holiday was made by the City Hall of the Canadian city of Niagara and the leadership of the traditional annual International Niagara Music Festival in 2010.
Mugam is one of the ancient oriental music genres that came into the world culture at the beginning of the XX century. And in 1971, the traditional Azerbaijani music was included in UNESCO’s ‘Anthology of Traditional Music of the world’.
After Azerbaijan became an independent country, the national mugham art reached a new, previously unseen level.

The first mugham textbook, the ‘Azerbaijani Mugham’ multimedia collection, which consists of 8 pieces, was written with the help of modern technologies.
