The ministerial meeting of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) in the Vienna format will be held on September 20 in New York, Germany’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Martin Schafer announced on Monday, TASS reports.
"The ceasefire agreement reached by the US and Russia nine days ago is expiring," he noted. "So it’s good that the Russian foreign minister and the US secretary of state have suggested that the ISSG have talks tomorrow in New York."
German Government Spokesman Steffen Seibert said in turn that Berlin "calls on all the parties to the conflict to adhere to the ceasefire agreement." "We regret the information on the Syrian regime’s unwillingness to maintain the ceasefire, while it could facilitate the humanitarian aid deliveries," Seibert noted. According to him, Damascus is restricting such deliveries. The spokesman also called upon Russia to exert pressure on Damascus so that the situation could change.
