International observers positively assessed the organization of the referendum on introduction of amendments and additions to the Azerbaijani constitution, which was held yesterday, the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza reports.
The Vice CEO of the European Strategic Intelligence and Security Center, William Racimora, expressed confidence that the referendum "will strengthen democracy and expand freedom in Azerbaijan," calling it a "vital change" for the republic.
"The voting took place without violations, and changes meet the expectations of the Azerbaijani people," he said, adding that his delegation had noted that the referendum took place in a peaceful well-organized atmosphere.
A representative of the Regional Committee of the European Union Polina Khayainen, agrees with Racimora. "The referendum reflected the interests of the Azerbaijani people. There were no incidents during the elections, and we observed the electoral process at a very large number of polling stations," she said.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malta Angelo Farrugia confirmed that the referendum met all the requirements of the Azerbaijani legislation. "All proposals for amendments to the Constitution were sent to the public before the referendum by 29 postal services We welcome the holding of polls among voters.
