Iran is looking for alternative transport routes to the EU, bypassing Turkey, this issue was discussed at the last meeting of the Minister of Roads and Urban development of the country Abbas Ahmad Akhoundi and the Transport Coordination Council.
In recent years there have been cases when Iranian drivers were injured on the roads in south-eastern Turkey. Such incidents were the result of the deteriorating situation in the sphere of security due to the influence of Islamist groups in the region, Trend reports.
Because of these reasons, Tehran is forced to think of new logistics. The Iranian authorities do not rule out the possibility that Azerbaijan will become a new door to the EU for them.
