Iran has stepped up the production of enriched uranium, but it intends to use it for peaceful purposes and is not going to create nuclear weapons, William Burns, Director of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) said.
The ministry believes that Iran's supreme leader did not order the resumption of the country's nuclear weapons program, which was stopped 20 years ago. Besides, he does not have such plans, Burns said in an interview with the American CBS television channel.
Despite the fact that during the time after the withdrawal from the JCPOA, Iran had a lot of opportunities to resume work on this project and bring it to completion in a matter of weeks, the country's leadership chose not to follow this path, the official added, RIA Novosti reports.
