Mohammad Reza Kamali from the Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (RIPI) told reporters here on Monday that huge reserves of gas hydrates have proven in the Oman Sea beneath which there are the conventional layers of gas, IRNA reports.
He also said the project to spot shale gas in Lorestan province in west of the country is almost half-completed with non-conventional gas reserves already found there.
The official said Iran enjoys very large capacities in terms of oil and gas shale.
