Iran ready to reactivate Arak reactor if US sanctions not removed

Iran is capable of reactivating the Arak reactor within six months if the US sanctions on the Islamic Republic are not lifted, the head of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iranian Parliament, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, said.

“If the US breaks the terms of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) regarding lifting the sanctions, Iran will activate the Arak reactor within six months,” Trend cited him as saying.

Under the deal, Tehran should rebuild a modernized heavy water research reactor in Arak. The redesigned and rebuilt Arak reactor will not produce weapons-grade plutonium.
