Iran's Guardian Council of the Constitution has approved the decision to hold the country's 12th presidential elections on May 19, 2017, the spokesman of the Iranian Guardian Council, Abasali Kadkhodaie, said.
Guardian Council members did not make a decision on the dates for city council elections, however, according to a parliament bill, presidential and city council elections should be held simultaneously, Sputnik reports.
The last presidential elections were held in Iran on June 14, 2013.
