Iran to join SWIFT

Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Didier Reynders, said during a meeting with Iranian Economy Minister Ali Tayyebnia in Tehran that Iran is seeking to join the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) in the coming weeks.

The Iranian minister expressed hope that Brussels and Tehran will increase economic ties following the removal of sanctions on Tehran.

Belgian Foreign Minister stressed that the new developments around Iran's nuclear program have prepared the way for the two countries to expand their mutual ties. Reynders also drew attention to the fact that the two countries can fully cooperate in the fields of energy, oil industry, food and agricultural products, Trend reports.

According to him, Belgium offers new technologies and experience in waste management, which can provide the grounds for future cooperation.
