Iran will not receive more than 60 billion dollars after sanctions are lifted

After the cancellation of international sanctions and unfreezing of foreign assets Iran could receive about 50-60 billion dollars, from which it can spend only a fraction on the purchase of necessary goods or investments, US Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew believes.

"It will be about 50-60 billion dollars. But Iran will not be able to use the full amount because it needs funds for conducting international operations, carrying out calculations and so on," Lew stated at the Senate hearings on the agreement with Iran, RIA Novosti reported.

According to some estimates, Iran has to invest about 500 billion dollars in the country's economy, and on the development of the oil and gas sector it is necessary to spend up to 200 billion dollars, Lew noted.
