Iranian MP resigns in protest against Larijani’s decision

Iranian MP Mehdi Kuchekzadeh resigned in protest against the actions of the Parliament’s Speaker Ali Larijani.

He spoke during a meeting in the parliament on the destruction of 1700 tons of potatoes in the country’s Fars province, regarding this step to be a result of the capitalist economic system, and made a remark to the minister of agriculture of Iran.

“At a time when many people in the country are starving, no one has the right to destroy 1700 tons of potatoes,” Kuchekzadeh stressed.

But his remark wasn’t accepted by the Parliament’s Speaker, who noted that this issue wasn’t on the meeting’s agenda. Kuchekzadeh sent a notice to the parliament stating his resignation.

Some 1700 tons of potatoes were earlier dug into the ground in the province of Fars due to a decrease in prices in the market, Trend reports.
