Iraq will not be part of U.S. sanctions against Iran, Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi said, according to a statement issued by the PM's office.
"Iraq will not be part of the U.S. sanctions against Iran or any other people," the PM said during a meeting with the Governor of Iran’s Central Bank Abdolnaser Hemmati, who arrived in Baghdad as part of a two-day official visit.
“The Iraqi people have suffered from blockade and know the damage caused by the siege," Anadolu Agency cited Abdul-Mahdi as saying.
Hemmati, in turn, expressed his hope for further cooperation between Baghdad and Tehran.
