Is Cherchesov able to save Russian football?

A creative producer and the host of Vesti FM, Gia Saralidze, speaking with a correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza, said that a new head coach of the Russian national football team, Stanislav Cherchesov, has a number of qualities which will help him to unite and inspire the team.

"First of all, Cherchesov is a new man in the leadership of the Russian national team, and he is a man who has proven that he knows how to work with different teams. The man who has proven that he knows how to work abroad. A man who has carried out good work with Spartak Moscow FC and Dynamo Moscow FC, but, for some unknown reasons, they did not let him continue his work with neither of the teams," the expert listed.

Saralidze also noted the new coach's charisma, his ability to get players worked up [for success] and his rejection of people who do not want to work. "All Stanislav Cherchesov's qualities can certainly benefit the team," he explained.

However, according to a creative producer of Vesti FM, we should keep in mind the abilities of the players. "It has been repeatedly stated that, unfortunately, there are very few average players the Russian team, not to mention the high quality. Therefore, Cherchesov will have the same problems that Slutsky had, every coach who will come to this place," Saralidze noted.

According to Saralidze, Cherchesov has been appointed the new coach of the Russian national team with an eye on public opinion: fans expected to see a leader who was a pupil of the national soccer school, not another coach from abroad. He added that only Cherchesov and the former coach of FC Rostov, Kurban Berdyev, were seriously considered as a replacement for Leonid Slutsky.
