Azerbaijan pays great attention to the development of sports in all its manifestations, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan Ismail Ismailov said today in an interview with a correspondent of Vestnik Kavkazka on the sidelines of the FIG Acrobatic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku.
"I would like to say that our state pays great attention to sports. Notice that the international competitions are held not only in Baku, but also in the regions. A typical example is the international tournament in memory of Vugar Gashimov in Shamkir, in which the strongest chess players all over the world participate each year. The Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship was held in Gusar last year, " Ismailov noted.
“Such competitions have a very positive effect on the mass character of sports. Now our athletes successfully perform. They can show good results and win medals in the future international competitions. The more such competitions are held, the greater heights our athletes will achieve,” Ismail Ismailov expressed his confidence.
“The level at which the international gymnastics competitions are held in Baku year after year underlines the highest level of work of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation. The regularity of these tournaments also testifies to the recognition of the AGF all over the world. We hold the European Championships and other international competitions, and all this thanks to the work of the Federation,’’ the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports concluded.
