Italy plans to propose ending a ban on European development bank lending to Russia in a sign of the new government in Rome’s wish for closer ties with Moscow.
According to EU diplomats, Italian prime minister Giuseppe Conte is to use a dinner of bloc leaders in Brussels on Thursday night to suggest resuming European Bank for Reconstruction and Development lending to small and medium sized businesses in Russia, Financial Times writes.
In 2014, EBRD shareholders ordered it to stop new investments in Russia due to the imposed sanctions.
