Italy invests 4 billion euros in Iran’s railway sector

ITINERA S.P.A Company Advisor Pino Arlacchi said Italy has agreed to invest 4 billion euros in the Iranian railway sector, Fars news agency reported.

Speaking to reporters in Tehran on Sunday, Arlacchi said he has signed agreements with two leading Iranian transportation companies.

He said the Italian company is preparing to enter next phases of investment portfolios related to the banking and insurance issues.

Meanwhile, a senior official in the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways also said that Italy is to join two railway construction projects.

Director General of the Organization for International Affairs at the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways Abbas Nazari said Italy has agreed to cooperate in two intercity railway construction projects.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Nazari said based on an agreement, a number of Italian companies will help build high-speed railway systems for Qom-Arak and Tehran-Hamedan routes.
