Tokyo will lift the sanctions against Iran on January 22. The relevant decision should be taken at a meeting of the government.
This step will enable Japanese companies to invest in the gas and oil industry of Iran. Banks in both countries will be able to open branches and enter into currency exchange contracts.
It is also expected that Japan is seeking to restore exploration of the Azadegan oilfield, which is one of the largest oil fields in the Middle East, containing over 26 billion barrels in total, RIA Novosti reports.
