Today Moscow hosted a press conference dedicated to the Gaidar Forum-2016. On the sidelines of the event, Vestnik Kavkaza was able to talk with the Chinese professor, who spoke about the cooperation between China and Russia and the countries of the South Caucasus.
First of all, Justin Yifu Lin pointed out that Russia and China are strategic partners. "If you look at the economic structure of both countries, you can see that both states complement each other in many ways. I think that such a strategic partnership will be beneficial for both Moscow and Beijing," the professor thinks.
In addition, he shared his views on the implementation of the 'New Silk Road' project, which implies the delivery of cargoes from China to Europe through the countries of Central Asia and South Caucasus. "This is a great initiative. It will bring many benefits to all project participants, since it is based on extensive investments in infrastructure. 'New Silk Road' will help to provide growth for all participating countries. All of this will lead to increased productivity, the creation of new jobs, an increase in the employment level and the standard of living of those people who work in these territories," the economist explained.
He also emphasized the fact that all the countries that are located around the project 'New Silk Road' will benefit from it. "Of course, this project is also beneficial to China, because the states that will continue to develop and improve their economic status will represent an interesting market for it. So this is a win-win situation for all the parties involved in this project," the Chinese economist, Professor Emeritus of Beijing University Justin Yifu Lin summed up.
