'Karachay-Cherkessia - 25' film wins Travel FilmFest 2018 award (VIDEO)

The film 'Karachay-Cherkessia-25', produced by the information and analysis agency Vestnik Kavkaza jointly with the TV channel of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation 'Vmeste RF' with the support of the Russian Ministry of Culture, has been selected as an award winner in Travel FilmFest 2018 festival, which is held in Limassol, Cyprus on October 19-22.

The documentary film by Vladimir Shahbaz (Nesterov) won from films of Canada, the US, Netherlands, Portugal and Vietnam. The TRAVEL FilmFest collects the best travel/lifestyle films from around the world, which were created both by professionals and by enthusiasts, and helps to get them across to the audience. This year, film-makers from 43 countries took part in the festival.

"It is very important to promote the tourist destinations of our country on international scale. There are so many fantastic places to visit in Russia, and the hospitality of our people can only be admired abroad. And Karachay-Cherkessia is a striking example of this. I really want more people to know about it, not only here in Russia, but also abroad," Vladimir Shahbaz (Nesterov) said, commenting on the film’s victory at the festival.

"I would like to express my gratitude to all who supported us during the process of making the film: the friendly family of the Karachay-Cherkessia peoples - Karachai, Circassians, Abazins, Nogai, and, of course, Russians; head of Karachaevo-Cherkessia Rashid Temrezov and the Federation Council member Ahmad Salpagarov, their assistance and personal involvement contributed to the successful implementation of our work, and of course - to the initiator of this remarkable project - the information and analysis agency Vestnik Kavkaza, the TV channel of the Federation Council 'Vmeste RF,' as well as Avocado Pictures and Kitchen Films, who actively provided us support in making this film," the director concluded.

The 'Karachay-Cherkessia - 25' documentary shows the present and past of Karachay-Cherkessia, the traditions and culture of its peoples. Famous Russian artists took part in the shooting: Mikhail Turetsky, Dmitry Malikov; Rector of Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichy and others. Some of their last interviews were given by Joseph Kobzon and Stanislav Govorukhin. For the first time the film was screened in September 2017 in Cherkessk, on the day of the 25th anniversary of the republic. The film was noted by a letter of appreciation from head of Karachaevo-Cherkessia Rashid Temrezov, while its director was awarded the title of Honored Journalist of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic.
