Uzbekistan will not allow the deployment of foreign military bases on its territory, the President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, said at a solemn ceremony to mark the Day of Uzbekistan’s Independence.
“I believe it is necessary to stress again that Uzbekistan will not join any military or political bloc, will absolutely not allow the deployment of foreign military bases on its territory and will not allow the presence of our servicemen abroad,” RIA Novosti cited him as saying.
“We consider such a deeply elaborated path and this very policy to be the most correct and most suitable for us, and we will never turn back from this course,” Islam Karimov said.
