The Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea, signed by the five Caspian leaders in Aktau on August 12, creates an effective base for cooperation, Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov said.
"By signing the convention, we create a stable and effective base for developing large-scale cooperation between the Caspian states in many areas," TASS cited the minister as saying.
Abdrakhmanov noted that through signing this "constitution", the Caspian states leaders "have once again reaffirmed their strong commitment to establishing a zone of peace, security, cooperation, sustainable development in this enormous region."
