Kazakhstan has introduced a new identity document. Unlike the old one, it is supplemented with fields with information about the citizenship and gender of its holders.
This data was on the identity card before, but it was not visible. This information was stored on the electronic chip of the document. Now, it is available on the front side of the ID, the website of the country's government agencies gov.kz.
However, old ID cards will be valid along with the new ones. The country's citizens will change the document only after it expires. Thus, there will be no mass replacement of plastic ID cards, the authorities assured.
