Kazakhstan introduces tax on Google

Today, a new tax on Google was introduced in Kazakhstan - all foreign companies selling their goods and services via the Internet are obliged to pay VAT on sales to the budget of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

For each product or service sold in Kazakhstan, any foreign company is obliged to pay 12% of its price. According to the Ministry of Economy of Kazakhstan, the new tax will bring about 2 bln tenge ($ 4.6 mln) per year.

To pay tax, foreigners do not need to register for tax purposes, they just need to write a letter of readiness to pay VAT.

The tax does not apply to Kazakh companies.
