Kazakh citizens have begun the first celebrations of National Day of Unity of People of the country. This day is a public holiday.
On October 18, 1995, the Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the decree about the announcement of the 1st of May as the Unity Day of the People of Kazakhstan.
Nazarbayev repeatedly said that strengthening of peace and consent between peoples living in Kazakhstan is among the main priorities of the state.
