Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On ratification of the Protocol on the protection of the Caspian Sea from land-based source pollution and as a result of onshore activity to the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea",
The protocol was signed in December 2012 in Moscow. The Senate (upper house) of the Kazakh parliament ratified the protocol on October 21.
