US Secretary of State John Kerry and the Syrian opposition members discussed the prospects of resolving the conflict in Syria on Saturday in Riyadh.
According to the State Department, the Secretary of State held a meeting with the General Coordinator of the High Negotiations Committee, Riyad Hijab. "They discussed the upcoming negotiations regarding a political transition in Syria and everyone agreed on the urgent need to end the violence afflicting the Syrian people," RIA Novosti cited the State Department as saying.
The US Secretary of State also noted the importance of maintaining the momentum of the International Syria Support Group following its meetings in Vienna and New York and following the UNSCR 2254 resolution.
