Kiev slaps sanctions on Russia’s State Duma speaker Volodin

Ukraine has imposed sanctions on Speaker of Russia's State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, the Russian parliament's lower house reported on Facebook.

"The Ukrainian authorities have imposed sanctions on Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin," the report reads.

According to the statement, the decision to slap sanctions on Volodin stems from his statements and the State Duma’s decision to set up a working group to analyze Ukraine’s damage to Crimea and Sevastopol for 23 years."

Yesterday, Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko put into effect the decision by Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council on sanctions against 294 legal entities and 848 individuals involved in the construction of the Crimean Bridge and the elections in the Donbass republics. Kiev also blacklisted those who, according to the Ukrainian authorities, are allegedly involved in the distribution of printed materials with "anti-Ukrainian content.".
