Konstantin Kosachev: Russia and Azerbaijan are very important allies for each other

Russia and Azerbaijan are very important allies for each other, Konstantin Kosachev, chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, said in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza.

"I have no doubt that there are no serios problems in our relations, or problems we can't overcome. Despite the fact that we don't participate in any joint military blocs, Russia and Azerbaijan remain very important allies for each other, resolving many global problems of our time," he stressed.

Senator noted that Russia is interested in peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. "Russia will always work with both sides of the conflict, but I think it’s clear that Russia doesn't have any interests of its own in this issue, it just want to establish peace in the Caucasus," Konstantin Kosachev said.

"Russia is interested in finding solution that, and I believe it will ultimately be found, that would satisfy all parties of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Russia is working on this, and we have very constructive ongoing dialogue with Azerbaijani and Armenian side," he concluded.
