Kremlin not considering topic of Lapshin’s extradition to Russia

The extradition to Russia of blogger Alexander Lapshin, who was sentenced to 3 years in prison in Azerbaijan, is not the topic the Kremlin is considering, Russian president’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said, RIA Novosti reported.

Lapshin was sentenced to three years in prison by the Baku Court of Grave Crimes on Thursday.

Lapshin, who is a citizen of several countries, is accused of violating Azerbaijani laws on state border in April 2011 and October 2012.  

On December 15, 2016, he was detained in Belarus. Lapshin was brought to Azerbaijan on February 7.

Lapshin is charged under the Article 281.2 (public appeals directed against the state) and 318.2 (illegal crossing border of the Republic of Azerbaijan) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
