Russian President Vladimir Putin and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday discussed results of the recent visit of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak to Turkey and agreed on new contacts in their telephone conversation, the Kremlin’s press service said on Monday.
"The presidents had a detailed exchange of views on issues of bilateral cooperation, primarily in trade and the economy, noting considerable growth in trade. They also reviewed the results of the recent visit to Turkey by a Russian delegation headed by Alexander Novak, Co-Chair of the Russia-Turkey Intergovernmental Commission and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. Striving to further promote mutually beneficial ties, in part, in energy, transport and tourism, the leaders agreed to hold more meetings," the statement reads.
"Discussing the developments in Ukraine, they emphasised the need to ensure safe navigation in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov and to remove the threat of mines in these waters. Vladimir Putin noted Russia’s willingness to facilitate unimpeded cargo shipping in coordination with its Turkish partners including grain shipments from Ukrainian ports. Concerning problems in world food markets due to the financial and economic policies of the West, it was confirmed that Russia would export substantial amounts of fertiliser and agricultural produce if the relevant anti-Russia sanctions were lifted," the press service added.
It was also noted that the presidents also reviewed a number of regional issues.
