Kvirikashvili and Venice Commission president discuss Georgian constitution

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and President of the Venice Commission Gianni Buquicchio discussed the ongoing process of amending the constitution in Georgia during a telephone conversation.

Buquicchio thanked Kvirikashvili for his involvement in the process and for the government’s attempts to continue a dialogue to reach a consensus, Government Administration said.

The press release also said that Buquicchio praised the government’s action, which allowed political parties to name their Mayor candidates in the list of Sakrebulo too.

"This change was of great importance for parties competing in the elections”, Agenda.ge cited the press release as saying.

It added that Buquicchio told Kvirikashvili that today he is "even more optimistic” and hopes that the next parliament of Georgia will be more pluralistic.
