The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili, was chosen by the parliamentary majority as a candidate for the post of Prime Minister of Georgia.
"Yesterday the members of the parliamentary majority discussed the candidates for the post of prime minister and chose Giorgi Kvirikashvili," MP of the parliamentary majority Zviad Kvachantiradze said.
According to the Constitution of Georgia, Kvirikashvili's candidacy must be approved by the President, RIA Novosti reports.
Georgian Prime Irakli Minister Garibashvili announced his decision to resign on Wednesday.
